Much of the concern around climate change focuses on the fact that we are producing too much carbon dioxide (CO2). This greenhouse gas is contributing to warming of our planet. Reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere has the potential to reduce this damaging effect. Researchers at Arizona State University have developed a CO2 “mechanical tree”, a device that removes CO2 from the air the same way that a tree does, but at much higher rate. If produced at scale, this technology and carbon capture as a while could make a real difference in our ability to reduce the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere.
